The Open Men 2011 SSS champ, for his second year, is Martin Ryland-Adair.

Other Divisional winners were:

Women : Emilie Cameron
Junior : Aden Wild
Recreational Men: Peter Cricchiola
Advanced Men: Oli Pauli
Masters : Richard Barratt
Grand Masters : Nick Summers

The weather was perfect for disc golf, not too hot or cold in the morning with calm & cloudy conditions, in the afternoon it was sunny with light winds.

The 21 players who came were all winners, enjoying the day with no rain & a lush green recently mowed course. Thanks to these keen players especially the inter staters for supporting the event & the ADG tour. My win was getting the course ready on time, the irrigation turned off for a week so course could dry out /get mowed & overnight rain was light so tee lines weren't washed away.

The course layout was modified into a short tight design with new gardens & playgrounds limiting many long holes & becoming OB areas. The previous tourney Aced holes (14 & 18) were fitted into the layout but no Aces on the day & the planned many Mandos removed after much discussion by the course committee. There was only one Mando (#4) purely for safety reasons & so it could be justified, the extra work of Mando madness was avoided & it took less time for Matt & I to setup the course.

The obvious highlight is Martin's two rounds of 47 (-16 under par), calving up the course with ease & skill, no bogeys, many birdies & a few eagles were the result. It's interesting seeing which holes he only parred, in the 1st round it was holes 4, 5, 11, 12 & 14; in the 2nd round it was 3, 5, 7, 11 & 14. In second place was the fast improving Fergie with two rounds of 52.

Other highlights were Richard's eagles on 9 &17 in round 1, Luke hitting the pole below the basket on hole 2, Greg Bowers drive on hole 4 just past the Mando tree on the right side but no eagle. The players hole by hole scores on spreadsheet makes for some interesting reading.

In the lunchtime fun events Martin won the Ring of Fire comp & Matt won the 3 station putting comp.

NTP divisional winners were Emilie, Aden, Peter Cricchiola, Richard, Peter Dunn & Jonathan. The players received prizes of chocolates & mini discs, the most popular minis were the large heavy drivers from Disc Nation with their logo of "One Nation Under Par"; thanks to Val Jenkins for sending me these fantastic mini drivers. Thanks also to Luke for bringing 2 boxes of discs for sale, a few were sold.

This was the last SSS & next year we will hold a two day event sometime in September to early October; holding the event in spring instead of summer means less people in the park, more time to deal with government for approval, mowing etc before Xmas holidays, up to date Insurance certificates, & all better for me!

Thanks again to the players for their support of the event, maybe next year more locals will make an effort to attend & we outnumber the visiting players. Thanks to the local crew of Peter, Matt & Andy N for their great help in course setup / packup, being group guides & tourney staff.
