On behalf of Australian Disc Golf (ADG), I’d like to share some information on what’s been happening at ADG since the new Board of Officers was elected back in April.
I’d like to start by thanking everyone who has been using the ADG website and referring it to other golfers. Also, a special mention for Paul Arden – Paul built and maintains the ADG website, he is also a significant contributor in the forums and news sections.
The ADG website is a great asset for disc golf in Australia, and it will only get better.
More Communication
The ADG e-newsletter ‘Chain Mail’ was emailed out a few weeks ago. If you didn’t receive it, you can download it from the home page of the ADG website.
Progress
Since the Annual General Meeting, much time has been spent working through administrative, financial, insurance and operational matters. We have also been cementing relationships with AFDA and PDGA. This behind the scenes stuff isn’t very exciting; however it is really important that the organisation gets these things right from the start, for the longevity of ADG.
Much more interesting is ADG’s plans for the coming months…
ADG Tour
A National and Regional tournament structure (ADG Tour) will be a valuable asset to the sports development.
We are planning to have an ADG Tour in place for 2007. We hope to be talking to some eager Tournament Directors over the next few months. Prospective TD’s may like to contact ADG’s Director of Competitions Paul Arden to register their interest.

ADG Membership
Another main priority is to present disc golfers with the opportunity to show support for ADG by becoming a member of ADG. We are aiming to roll out our membership package(s) by the end of 2006, hopefully sooner.
New ADG Logo
We are working on a new logo for the organisation.
PDGA Players Ratings
We were aware of a few Australian players who were frustrated that their PDGA Ratings did not get counted as they should. Our National PDGA Officer, Paul Arden, has been in contact with PDGA and by the next ratings update, all 2006 Australian events, past and future will be properly accounted with the PDGA.
PDGA Player Ratings is a great resource for golfers interested in comparing their game against the best players in the World.

More Excitement
ADG Board members are also heavily involved in some other exciting development projects; these include:
i) Olympic Park, Sydney – a proposal for a permanent disc golf course is being put together and a pilot disc golf event at Sydney Olympic Park is awaiting approval from administration at Sydney Olympic Park.
ii) Poimena Reserve, TAS – Australia’s oldest course in Tasmania is being upgraded. Funded by $10,000 from a local Council Sport and Recreation Grant. Work began at the end of June and should take 10-12 weeks to complete.
There is a lot happening, some things are more obvious than others. We hope that you will be patient and supportive as we progress.
