MADD MACQ’S 019

When Kurt is not around things fall apart!!!

First of all, a belated Happy New Year to all of you from the Sydney Disc Golf Club, wish I could say I had a good start to the year disc golf-wise but more on that later.  Our first MM’s of the year greeted us with some unseasonably mild weather which was very welcome considering the day before it was in the 40’s, the day had some overcast, and some infrequent gusts of wind that overall were not too bad.

The play started with a decent turnout for the first round, Luke and I brought Kurt’s shop over with us which meant that Kurt was not around, so taking out a Madd Macq’s was up to everyone else… We set up the familiar Classic Layout and after the first round Luke and I were dead tied at 54 each.  The second round I figured we could play together and just make fun of the whole thing, take some pressure off and just enjoy the second round.  After a few holes Luke had gained 2 strokes on me which I later gained back to have us tied with 7 holes to go, then things took a turn for the worse.  I carded a 5 or something like that on hole 16 (we started on 5) which is a little hard to imagine considering my drive left me 8 metres from the basket! The truth is I didnt read the wind right and I was being too aggressive, but this was freakin’ serious (just kidding, it wasnt all that serious)! I then proceeded to card a 6 on 17 and then something else horrendous on 3 (a 7 I think), sometime around then I decided that while no one was looking I would run into the woods, curl up in a little ball and cry like a little girl… well, not really… but its a pretty funny image isn’t it?!?!  And speaking of images, sorry I don’t have any this time around, but I burned them all in a fit of rage over losing that badly… or maybe I forgot my camera at home… not sure which one is the truth. Below are the results, apparently there were more people there; I was too focused on the intensity of the moment to pay attention. Kidding again, one notable event happened about three holes into the first round, we were walking to hole 8 when this very tall American guy named Joel (sorry man, didn’t get your last name) comes running up wanting to play, needless to say we lent him a few discs and away he went, but the most impressive part of it was when he said; “man, I thought this sport didn’t exist in Australia”. Which I took as a compliment because if it wasn’t for everyone’s efforts in the Sydney Disc Golf Club and everywhere else in Australia, this sport would be dead in this country!

Anyway, it was roughly decided that the next Madd Macq’s will be held on the 3rd of Feb.

Thanks
Albert
