Announcement from ADG.
After discussions with all state representatives on the ADG Board, the decision has been made to change the date of the 2011 Australian Disc Golf Championships.
The new date is 25-27 November 2011.
The tournament destination remains unchanged – Poimena Reserve Disc Golf Course, Austins Ferry, Tasmania.
Changing the date for ADG’s premier tournament has not been a decision the Board has taken lightly.
We have done our best to be considerate to all parties involved and to act in the best interests of disc golf in Australia.
It is clear to the Board that the benefits gained from moving the tournament from October to November far outweigh any detriments.
Benefits include:
– Opportunity to attract a leading disc golf coach to the tournament
– running a coaching program in local schools and also coaching clinics for tournament competitors.
– Opportunity for greater collaboration with New Zealand Disc Golf.
– Opportunity for top pro players in USA and Europe to consider playing the Australian Championships (no date clash with other major events)
– Less chance of snow or horizontal rain (!)
ADG wishes to thank all respondents for their feedback and regrets any inconvenience suffered by the change of date.
Further information about the 2011 Australian Disc Golf Championships will be published in the coming months on the tournament website:
