Macq Uni had its first taste of doubles disc golf for the 11th installment of Madd Macq’s Disc Golf.  The idea for doubles came about since there were only a few of us this time around (I take full responsibility for the low numbers in the turnout, will say more later), and everyone was keen to try it out.  The teams turned out to be pretty even, Rodney and I took out first place three strokes ahead of Luke and Terry and 8 strokes ahead of JJ and Jason,  for some it was the first time playing doubles and everyone had a great time doing it so we may include it in further MM events. 

Now back to my doings, I happen to have scheduled this event on the same day as a major ultimate tournament in Meadowbank (I had no idea it was that close, I thought it was in Victoria somewhere), and I only gave a few days notice (I was overseas for a few weeks and completely spaced on the reminders).  I promise I will do better next time.  Anyway, the first round was played as regular singles and the scores are below.

Of note is another near ace, this time by JJ on the 16th where he nicked the chains and bounced off the rim of the basket (I think we scared a few people with the screaming), good on ya JJ, next time make it stick.  After the singles round we played doubles, then we had just enough time to play another 9 holes while we were picking up after ourselves.  The next Madd Macq’s (which will have much better publicity than this one, will be held on July the 23rd.
