The most important thing with a MADD MACQ’S is the date for the next one, something we usually decide on the spot or shortly afterwards after consultation with the Ultimate schedule. It’s not always it becomes common knowledge, though…
MADD MACQ’S 014 is Sunday the 24th of September just a few weeks ahead of our BIG weekend.
Someone to study and emulate is Luke Williams and his putting; it’s graceful, controlled, accurate and a truly stroke winning skill. The motion is the same, regardless of the distance to the basket; he kicks off with his left leg, lines up the disc, balances on his right foot for a few seconds to make the basket come closer, grow bigger. He does that a few times and then comes the last kick off and he releases the disc smoothly but distinctly knowing that he’s in charge. It sails without flutter in a beautiful arch and drops significantly the last meter or so in order to be going downwards at impact, thus minimising the risk for the putt going through the chains. He didn’t break the course record but at least he won the event, this time with an add-on final 9 just for the fun of it, although some players complained about malnutrition caused by Uai’s absence. Quite a few of the old faces missing this time but there were a few very welcome new faces, among them Fee Macrae who beat most of the guys and will cause Uai Stack a lot of problems!
